Mark Lentini presents at the AREMA Virtual Conference & Expo Tech Session

On September 15, 2020, Mark Lentini, Reliability Engineer for Strukton Rail North America, presented on “Rail asset-related innovations from the international railway community with the potential for use in North American railways”, at this year’s AREMA Virtual Conference & Expo.

In 2016, Strukton Rail, headquartered in the Netherlands, opened its North American offices to share its 100 years of rail maintenance expertise and serve local clients with its ground-breaking technological developments. Utilizing examples of Strukton Rail’s global knowledge, Mark highlighted asset management practices that have the ability to, also, significantly improve operations for North American railways.

The presentation discussed in detail how condition-based predictive maintenance modeling, as influenced by cloud-based remote condition monitoring tools such as current consumption and temperature monitoring tools for rail asset anomaly detections; digital twin technology to consolidate network KPI data scattered across various platforms to gain further insight into asset health and deployment of maintenance crews in real-time; video-based noncontact overhead catenary scanning technology; and, laser triangulation/video-based track monitoring technology, and supports asset maintenance planning.
